What Is Fletching?
Fletching is the set of small fins or vanes attached near the back of your arrow. Their job is to stabilise the arrow in flight — without them, an arrow would tumble unpredictably and lose all accuracy. Think of fletching like the tail fins of a rocket. They keep everything flying straight.
Types of Fletching

Plastic vanes are the most common fletching used by archers in India. They are durable, water-resistant, and perform consistently in both indoor and outdoor conditions — including through monsoon humidity.

- A vane has completely fallen off the shaft
- A vane is bent, cracked, or deformed and will not return to its original shape
- The glue bond has come loose at the base of the vane
- Arrow groupings suddenly become inconsistent for no obvious reason
How to Apply Spin Wing Vanes — Step by Step
What You Need

- Alcohol wipe to clean the shaft
Steps
- Clean the shaft: Wipe the back section with an alcohol wipe. Remove all old glue residue and grease.
- Apply the wrap: The Socx Wrap provides an adhesive base layer. Apply carefully, keeping it straight and bubble-free.
- Use the aligner: Ensures each vane is placed at exactly 120 degrees apart — consistent vane placement is essential for consistent arrow flight.
- Apply the vane: Peel the backing, press firmly onto the wrap, and hold for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Repeat for all three vanes: Same offset angle on each.
- Allow to cure: Leave the arrows flat for at least one hour before shooting. Overnight is better.
