Elite Archers Descend on Springfield for USA Archery Target Nationals and U.S. Open
Springfield, Missouri is once again at the center of American archery. The Betty & Bobby Allison Sports Town is hosting the USA Archery Target Nationals, U.S. Open, and the inaugural USAT Series Final from August 12–15, 2026 — bringing together approximately 650 of the country's top competitive archers for four days of elite competition.
This marks the second consecutive year the event has returned to Springfield, a signal of the city's growing reputation as a destination for high-level sports tourism and a testament to the quality of its facilities.
A Field Built for the Olympic Stage
The competitor list reads like a who's who of American archery. Olympic medalists, world champions, continental champions, and world record holders are all in the field, competing across barebow, compound, and recurve disciplines. For many, Springfield is more than a national title chase — it's a critical training ground on the road to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
"This really is a great opportunity to see leading U.S. archers who will be going for gold at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028," said Mary Emmons, USA Archery's interim CEO.
The inaugural USAT Series Final adds an extra layer of prestige to this year's edition, making it the most comprehensive USA Archery event of the summer season.
Springfield Proves Its Value as an Archery Hub
The return to Allison Sports Town is no accident. The venue has invested in the infrastructure needed to handle elite multi-discipline archery competitions at scale, and the local sports commission has built the organizational partnerships to match.
"Events like this showcase the strength of our facilities, our community partnerships and the economic impact that sports tourism brings to the region," said Stan Adams of the Greater Springfield Area Sports Commission. The projected economic impact of the event exceeds $1 million for the local area — a figure that underscores just how significant a four-day national archery championship can be for a host city.
Chris Martin, general manager of Allison Sports Town, echoed the enthusiasm: "We are thrilled to have archers from all over the United States and abroad competing at Allison Sports Town."
